Tatkal Booking

For benefit of passengers who have to plan their journey at the last moment and cannot secure reserved accommodation, Railways provide “Tatkal” ticket booking facility on payment of premium charges on ‘first come first served’ basis. This facility is now available on the Internet through www.irctc.co.in. Features of Tatkal ticket booking Facility on www.irctc.co.in Tatkal bookings are  allowed in all classes except First AC Tatkal charges in addition to normal fare per passenger( applicable both in peak and lean periods ) lean periods ) lean periods ) 10 %of the basic fare for second class and 30% of the basic fare for second class and 30% of the basic fare for all other classes subject to minimum and maximum as noted below:-

Tatkal tickets(e-tickets only)can be booked one day in advance.(excluding the date of journey)

Tatkal  The Indian Railway has introduced several measures to ensure Tatkal train tickets reach the common man. Booking counters will now open at 10 am instead of 8 am, the day before the journey from the originating station.  Note:Tatkal I-ticket are not allowed to be booked on our site.

Please check the availability for Tatkal Quota before booking. No concession is allowed in Tatkal booking.This restriction applies to Sr. citizen concession also. Modification of ticket in any form is not permitted in Tatkal ticket. A flat refund of 25% of total fare charged on ticket,excluding Tatkal Charges is granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets, which are cancelled up to 24 hrs. before the schedule departure of train. No refund on confirmed Tatkal tickets when cancelled within 24 hrs.of the schedule departure of train. For contingent cancellation & waitlisted Tatkal ticket cancellations,charges will be deducted as per existing Railway rules .

Tatkal Ticket Cancellation

As per current rules, tatal ticket cancellation charges:

1. A flat refund of 25% of total fare charged on the ticket, excluding Tatkal charges may be granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets which are presented for cancellation upto 24hrs before the schedule departure of train. Thereafter, no refund will be granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal ticket except under the conditions prescribed below
2. Full refund of fare and Tatkal Charges will be granted on the tickets booked under this scheme in the following circumstances:
   
   
   
   - If the train is delayed by more than 3 hours at the journey originating point of passenger and not the boarding point if the passenger's journey originating point and boarding point are different.
- If the train is to run on diverted route and the passenger is not willing to travel; boarding station or the destination station or both the stations are not on the diverted route - In case of non attachment of coach in which Tatkal accommodation has been earmarked and the passenger has not been provided accommodation in the same class. - If the passenger has been accommodated in lower class and passenger does not want to travel. In case passenger travels in lower class, the passenger will be given refund of difference of fare and also the difference of Tatkal charges, if any. - The booking under tatkal scheme will be done only from the originating to terminating point of the train with boarding facility from intermediate station. However zonal railways have been given the discretions of imposing restrictions on tatkal booking regarding defining trains as end to end or keeping it free or imposing distance restriction etc. Keeping in view the over all utilization of the accmmodations avliable in the train
3. No refund will, however, be permissible on the reservations made under Tatkal scheme in case the coach, in which accommodation under Tatkal scheme has been earmarked, is not attached and the accommodation has been provided to the Tatkal passengers in the normal train services in the same class.

Tatkal tickets (e-tickets only)can be booked ONE DAY in advance ( from 21 Nov 11).(excluding the date of journey)



Tatkal e-tickets can be booked for selected trains ONE DAY in advance ( from 21 Nov 11) upto chart preperation. e-tickets can be booked on the opening day from 8.00 am onwards (for any change in the timings, check exact time of operations from concerned railway stations or ticket booking centers)
